He began his real estate career with H.G Livingstone Residential and then joined the First National Group in 2000. In 2002, he and two other colleagues bought the local agency and renamed it Avon Realty Ltd. In 2006, he sold his shares to spend more time with his children and partnered with David Lawrence Real Estate. In 2015, with David's retirement, he took over management of the company and in 2017 changed the name to Tim Baker Real Estate.
Tim has lived and worked in Aranui his entire life and has become the local historian for the area, having published books on the history of the suburb. He has served on several local Boards and is an elected member of the Waitai Coastal Burwood Linwood Community Board.
